Project 04 – Conscious Consumption

PART 1

Recently, I like to go to the live broadcast room to watch onlookers every night. I don’t buy too much, but I feel very happy watching everyone interact;
At first it was to save money, but then it seemed to be “addicted” and I couldn’t stop it. Instead, I spent more money, and it hurts;
I feel very excited as soon as I spend money. Although I sometimes have “no money”, I still enjoy shopping. Isn’t this pathological?

I feel very happy when I buy something. Is this normal? Since money is limited, how can we spend money to bring us more happiness?

Why can consumption have “healing power”?

Shopping makes people happy, and it is a real experience for many people. When buying, buying, and buying, our stress and negative emotions seem to be easily alleviated. And this is scientifically based!

Retail therapy is not a true professional psychotherapy method. However, this does not prevent it from becoming the most commonly used method for modern people to relax and regulate emotions.

I felt the negative emotions at first, then went shopping, and ended up spending too much money and feeling anxious. Then rely on shopping to resist anxiety and spend more money, leading to feeling negative emotions again, and then go shopping. This is an endless loop.

At these times, it is difficult for us to feel happy and healed by buying and buying. On the contrary, we may “spend money for sin and suffering”, and the more we buy, the more anxious we become. Therefore, to buy happy and satisfied, we need to find the “right” way to shop. Only by making good use of the limited money in our hands and spending them in the right place, can we experience happiness to a greater extent and lastingly.

 Although I was in a good mood when I bought it, I started to regret again after seeing a bunch of express delivery and empty wallets.

The above three ideas did not even affect the consumption mentality because they did not completely change the consumption habits. I finally gave up. When my mind got stuck, I suddenly remembered that I had read the book “A Complaint-free world”.

21 days is the amount of time it takes to make a repeated action into a habit.
In 21 days, you can change your life completely.
You need two things: a purple bracelet, and this book.

The usage of the purple magic bracelet is as follows:

  1. Put the bracelet on one wrist.
  2. When you find yourself complaining, gossiping, or criticizing, move the ring to your other hand.
  3. Change in this way until you develop the goal of not complaining, criticizing, or gossiping for 21 consecutive days.
  4. Persevere. The average time to success is 4 to 8 months.

The book says that it takes 21 days for the hens to hatch their eggs. It takes 21 days for a person to develop a new behavior into a habit. This is the “21-day rule.” According to research, it takes 21 days for the brain to build a new nerve channel. Therefore, human behavior implies that a habit will be formed after more than 21 days of repetition, and a stable habit will be formed after more than 90 days of repetition. The formation of habit is roughly divided into three stages.
The first stage:
l One 7 days. At this stage, you must remind yourself of changes from time to time and ask yourself deliberately. Because if you don’t pay attention, your bad emotions and bad ailments will surface and make you go back to the past. You may feel very unnatural and uncomfortable while reminding yourself and asking yourself. However, this kind of “unnatural and uncomfortable” is normal.
second stage:
After 7 to 2l days, after a week of deliberate requests, you already feel more natural and more comfortable, but you should not be careless. If you are not paying attention, your bad emotions and bad ailments will destroy you again and make you go back to the past. Therefore, you must also deliberately remind yourself and ask yourself.
The third phase:
2l to 90 days, this stage is the stable period of habit, it will make new habit a part of your life. At this stage, you no longer have to ask yourself deliberately, it is as natural as raising your hand to look at your watch.

This is a way I thought of, insist on 21 days to check-in, hold back the desire to consume and consume consciously. So as to help users develop such a good habit.

INITIAL WIREFRAME

First Low-fi Prototype

After testing the shopaholic classmates, she felt that the third game was not really helpful, so I deleted it.

It’s a little naive for adults.

UPDATED WIREFRAME

After I removed the game, I changed it to a checkable bill. After recording the consumption daily, you can see the past consumption records. And after the 21-day clocking in this software is over, you can continue to use the record function.

After re-experiencing a friend’s test, she thought the software logic was much smoother. And the 21-pound daily return function made her very excited.

When I stay in this kind of environment with plaster as the main body and green plants dotted, I feel calm inside. So I chose these three colors. And follow the style of less is more, and the follow-up software style will also be based on minimalist style.

Ui Design

First Hi-fi Prototype

I don’t know what caused it. Many pictures started to be misplaced, and users felt that the connection was not very smooth, and the connection was a bit stuck. The connection between the interface and the hot zone needs to be re-adjusted later.

Second Hi-fi Prototype

After re-modification, I changed the interface size again to make the entire software run more smoothly. Regarding the connection of the hot zone, I also adjusted the connection to make the logic clearer.
