Project 04 – Pitch for the future
After reading the introduction, I realized that this project is for us to choose one of the nine topics for research, and finally show our understanding of the topic based on the research in the form of a film.
Mind Map
Selection
After consideration and deliberation, I chose the problem of marine pollution caused by water pollution. Water pollution is water that pollutes the environment where the use-value of water is lost due to chemical substances. Human activities will cause a large amount of industrial, agricultural, and domestic waste to be discharged into the water, causing the water to be polluted . Increasing water pollution has posed a major threat to human survival and safety, and has become a major obstacle to human health, economic and socially sustainable development.
Design Frame
Frame Your Design Challenge
What is the problem you’re trying to solve?
As the modern world becomes more and more industrialized, the domestic wastewater and industrial wastewater produced by human beings are particularly large. In terms of personal life, because humans use scrubs and other products such as skin care and cleaning products, they flow directly into the ocean along with the sewage system. These plastic particles cannot be metabolized. In industry, many factories directly discharge sewage into the ocean. Marine organisms cause mutations, and plastic waste is also filled into the ocean. This requires thousands or even tens of thousands of years of digestion by nature to be completely metabolized.
1.Take a stab at framing this challenge as a question:
How to make humans aware of self-produced waste water so as to protect water resources?
2. Now state the key outcome you’re trying to achieve:
Let mankind begin to reduce the use of plastic products, call on factories to use environmentally friendly materials, and will not directly discharge sewage into the ocean.
3.Write down important aspects of the context or constraints that you need to consider:
These could be shifts that we need to see in the ecosystem around the user, or factors that are technological, geographic or time-based.
I think the first point I need to consider is the lifestyle factor or time factor. Since human beings enjoy the convenience brought by industrial products for a long time, it is impossible to quit them all at once. The second important point is the technical factor. In modern technology, no more environmentally friendly materials have been found to replace plastics, and the factory sewage system is expensive to build.
4. What are some possible solutions to your design question?
Think broadly. It’s fine to … sentence is same as existing.
My design can bring a psychological change to the audience through the dissemination of environmental protection knowledge, or through the visual impact of polluted water.
5. Does your original design question need a tweak? Try it again.
How to make the human voice feel the sensation of the creatures living in sewage?
First-hand research
Second-hand research
After doing such first-hand research. There are my thinking on water pollution.
In the matter of destroying the environment, human beings have been moving forward steadily.
On February 27th, the open access magazine “Royal Society Open Science”, founded by the Royal Society of the United Kingdom, published a study on the same day, which concluded that plastics have filled the deepest part of the world’s trenches.
According to the study, although plastic pollution in the ocean has been confirmed before, the depth has not been determined.
This time, researchers found plastic fibers in six deep-sea trenches (including the deepest known Mariana trench) and nine sites along the Pacific coast. At least 72% of the tested individuals contained plastic fibers and particles in their digestive systems. Microplastic fibers are found in 84% of amphipods.
This deepest record means that the world’s marine ecosystems that are not affected by plastic pollution may no longer exist.
There is a cycle in everything. As early as October last year, related studies confirmed that the destruction of the environment by humans will eventually return to themselves.
At the time, the Austrian Medical University of Vienna and the Austrian Federal Environment Agency stated that scientists had found plastic particles in the feces of the eight subjects involved in the study.
From polluting the marine environment and causing harm to marine life, plastics began to endanger human beings. All this came too fast.
But there is another point of view: only the cheapest consumer products are the most environmentally friendly. Any higher processing will consume more natural resources and cause more pollution emissions. Although paper bags that “look environmentally friendly” can be degraded, But the price is huge consumption of forest resources and water pollution, which in turn causes damage to the ecological environment even far greater than plastic bags.
Perhaps it should be led by the government to allow the market to re-price pollution control, especially before transferring the cost of waste treatment and the actual value of non-renewable resources to sales, and then using market evaluation resources to solve environmental protection issues institutionally.
In fact, environmental problems are more about the market system’s misappraisal of commodity prices. Garbage producers have successfully returned the cost of garbage disposal to society as a whole, leaving only the profits for themselves.

More details: Making interactive software can improve the recycling rate of human plastic products, such as water bottle exchange?
3.Write down important aspects of the context or constraints that you need to consider:

Think broadly. It’s fine to … sentence is same as existing.
My design can bring a psychological change to the audience through the dissemination of environmental protection knowledge, or through the visual impact of polluted water.
If there is a public service advertisement or interactive device with strong visual impact, can the audience be psychologically shocked and start to use resources correctly? If I design an interactive app or a service design, will it allow users to reduce the use of plastic products or improve the effect of the sewage system in the factory?
5. Does your original design question need a tweak? Try it again.
How to make the human voice feel the sensation of the creatures living in sewage?
How to improve the frequency of plastic use and the effect of water pollution treatment?
Idea
Describes the life of a chemically contaminated plastic, from its birth to the end of being discarded by humans, thrown into the sea, and finally eaten by fish, and then we eat the fish. These chemical hazards have always returned to our bodies.
I want people to experience the feeling of using green polluted water. So I consider the time when people are most exposed to water, that is, when they take a bath. Combine people into a fish, a fish that lives in green sewage.
Finally, I think the second option is more suitable for my theme. So I will continue the discussion of my second option.
Work Process
I think the Japanese do the most meticulous about taking a bath. So I want to use the narrative style of Japanese Zen culture to interpret a bathing story.
I extracted the tones from my inspiration collage
I also observed the process of plastic particles becoming larger in the water. It feels that if plastics become more and more blocked, from human production to discharge into rivers. Then enter the fish body. We eat fish again. In this way, the plastic particles still return to our body. These are particles that cannot be excreted or metabolized. So we can only let them store more and more in our body.
