I chose the poem of parables and designed a book about it. Below are my entire steps and analysis.

Part 1 UNDERSTAND

1 – about the author

Tempest has received wide critical acclaim for its written and live work. A performance of Brand New Ancients prompted the New York Times to say “As gorgeous streams of words flow out, [they conjure] a story so vivid it’s as if you had a state-of-the-art Blu-ray player stuffed into your brain, projecting image after image that sears itself into your consciousness” while a review by Michiko Kakutani of their poetry collections in the same paper explored their written style: “While [their] intense performances on stage add a fierce urgency to the words, these text versions of [their] work stand powerfully on their own on the page…using [their] pictorial imagination to sear specific images into the reader’s mind”. 2 – Conscious rap (style of music)

Conscious hip hop, or socially conscious hip hop, is a subgenre of hip hop that challenges the dominant cultural, political, philosophical, and economic consensus, and/or comments on social issues and conflicts. Conscious hip hop is not necessarily overtly political, but the terms “conscious hip hop” and “political hip hop” are sometimes used interchangeably. Conscious hip hop began to gain traction in the ’80s, along with hip hop in general. The term “nation-conscious rap” has been used to more specifically describe hip-hop music with strong political messages and themes. Themes of conscious hip hop include Afrocentricity, religion, aversion to crime and violence, culture, the economy, or depictions of the struggles of ordinary people. Conscious hip hop often seeks to raise awareness of social issues, leaving the listeners to form their own opinions, rather than aggressively advocating for certain ideas and demanding actions.[ from Wikipedia ]

4 – My Opinion

There is no need to overly ugly capitalism. For some people, they may be true angels rather than beasts. In fact, no system is perfect. Experience tells us that there is no ideology more successful than capitalism in history. But although experience tells us that this method works in this situation, it cannot tell us whether other methods will be better in this situation. So of course you can criticize capital, but you must be mentally prepared and knowledgeable, put on a suit, and pick up a pen in a combat stance to criticize. Criticism that does not clarify the premise, draws a clear line and does not provide a solution is meaningless, and may even mislead others.

Part 2 PLAY

1 – Mind storming

This is when I was on the train, extracting some elements from the lyrics, using associations and metaphors to draw and do graffiti.

2 – Ideas

I want to sew each page with thread, just like cracking a message. Every time I read a paragraph, I need to cut it with scissors. It’s like they are determined to resist the shackles of capitalists.

Only one book was produced from this idea. After recording the reading process, Kae’s rap was used as the background music. Broadcast on the Internet or on public screens to promote their doctrine to them.

This book is like an installation artwork, combined with computer video editing technology, combining the physical book and e-pub to create a new publishing format.

The audience for the second idea is the general public. I think that the communication efficiency of electronic publications and media is the highest now, so I want to use a combination of online electronic media and offline publications to promote the ideas Kae wants to convey.

Updating a section of the poem on Instagram’s daily story and tik tok is a good way to spread it. In the fast-browsing era, people are living fast-paced, it is very important to seize the little time they squeeze out to quickly browse information.

Ultimately, I want to choose the second idea.

Part 3 AMPLIFY

FINAL PROJECT

The main followers of my Instagrams are all from China. So I use Chinese dubbing to translate English content. If there are followers from other regions, the English content will be on the daily book page.
